Cheryl DiMenna, ASID received
a BFA from The Maryland
Institute, College of Art, now
known as MICA. She majored in
Interior Design, graduating in
May of 1982. While in school Ms.
DiMenna joined ASID as a
student member and remained
an associate member after
graduation. She became a
Professional member of the
Society upon earning her
NCIDQ certificate in 1986, and
is a Certified Interior designer in
the state of Maryland.
Ms. DiMenna is a freelance
designer participating in
commercial, residential and
healthcare projects. Primarily
she is hired for programming,
space planning, construction
documents, cabinetry
design/detailing, and
specifications. Her space
planning skills and continuing
use of paper and pencil add
particular value to her NCIDQ
Practicum Prep Workshops.
She has participated in activities
to encourage passage of
licensure legislation in
Maryland. She has served on
several committees for the
Maryland Chapter including the
Nominating Committee,
Strategic Planning, was on the
Chapter Board for five years and
has been the chapter STEP
coordinator since 1986. Ms.
DiMenna has been informing
students about STEP at various
colleges and Student Career
Days, and has reviewed student
portfolios at Neocon East. She
has also served on the ASID
Foundation Jury reviewing
scholarships and awards for
undergraduate and graduate
students.
Cheryl DiMenna resides in
Baltimore, Maryland with her
husband John and three
daughters.
Donna Kirby is a practicing
interior designer with over
thirty years of experience in
the commercial and
residential design field.
Donna is a past Chapter
President and a Past
National Board Member.
Over the years she has
received numerous honors
and awards including being
named a Fellow for ASID
and receiving a prestigious
National Presidential
Citation for her
chairmanship of the 1993
ASID National Conference.
Besides her undergraduate
degree in design, she has a
master’s degree in Interior
Design emphasizing
accessible design.
Donna began her speaking
and educational career as a
leadership trainer and
strategic planning facilitator
with ASID’s national training
program in the early
nineties. She has also been
a selected participant of the
ASID Distinguished Speaker
Series since its inception.
Donna has also been a
STEP trainer for ASID,
preparing interior designers
to take the NCIDQ exam.
Donna worked as an adjunct
instructor for 17 years in the
Interior Design Department
at Seminole State College,
specializing in building code
education and space
planning.
She is the owner of
Education in Design, a firm
providing continuing
education for interior
designers and architects.
Phyllis D. Moore, FASID,
received a B S degree in
Interior Design from the
University of Alabama and is
the owner of Interior Design
Source, LLC in Decatur,
Alabama. Ms. Moore, a
charter member of the
Alabama Interior Design
Coalition, served as
secretary, board president,
co-author of the practice act
passed in 2001 in the
Alabama Legislature and
has actively promoted
interior design legislation for
over 15 years.
Phyllis earned her NCIDQ
Certificate in 1983 and is a
professional member of
ASID serving the society in
numerous positions.
She has served as Board
member, Treasurer, and
President of the Alabama
Chapter of ASID and on
numerous state
committees. She served on
the national level as
chairman of the ASID
Legislative Advisory Council,
Chairman of the ASID
Student Advisory Council.,
Member of the ASID
Referral Service Council,
member of the ASID
Chapter Support Team,
ASID National Nominating
Committee, and as a
director on the ASID National
Board of Directors as well
as several task forces.
Phyllis has participated in
planning Student Job Fairs
for ASID at Neocon New
York, Atlanta, and Chicago
and has been keynote
speaker at student career
day programs, and student
leadership training across
the country. She has
presented legislative
training and strategic
planning to more than 15
state coalitions, was
Chairman of the 2002
National ASID Legislative
Symposium and speaker at
the 2004, 2006 and 2008
symposiums.
In 2001 ASID awarded her
Fellowship in the Society
and the University of
Alabama College of Human
Environmental Sciences
named her recipient of the
Jack Davis outstanding
Alumni award. The Alabama
ASID chapter has awarded
her ASID national Merit
Award as well as
Outstanding Chapter
member Award. She served
on the NCIDQ IDEP
committee for four years
and is currently serving as
an ASID STEP instructor,
chair of ASID STEP
committee, ASID DSS
speaker for Legislative
CEU, NCIDQ Peer Review
Committee member and on
the Neocon Program
Advisory Committee.
